Citrus Sale Underway

NHCO's annual Citrus Sale is underway! Order and pay online or use our order form and drop it off at our Allison Park office at 1975 Ferguson Road. Deadline to order is Feb. 8! Order pickup is March 3 and 4. Prices range from $20 to $28 for boxes of fresh and delicious tangerines, grapefruits, pears and temple oranges. Ordering a box or two of fruit is one of the easiest ways to forward NHCO's mission of helping our neighbors in crisis, hardship and poverty. For more information, contact Lee Anne Pontis at 412-487-6316, opt. 1, x3133.

Community Auto Launches "Car Ready" Workshops

Community Auto now offers “Car Ready” Workshops that focus on car pricing, maintenance and insurance. The workshops are open to the public and are held numerous times each month. Workshops will cover preparing for vehicle ownership, maintaining a vehicle after purchase and strategies for your next vehicle purchase. Workshop attendance is mandatory for purchasing a Community Auto vehicle. Locations of workshops include NHCO’s Allison Park office, Millvale Satellite and Community Auto in Pine. To schedule and for more information, call 724-443-8300.

You're Invited to Celebrate NHCO's 25th Anniversary

2012 marks our silver anniversary and you are invited to celebrate with us on April 29 at the LeMont on Mt. Washington. The evening kicks off at 5:30 p.m. and includes a three-course meal, inspiring speakers and more. Tickets are $50 a person - $25 in honor of the last 25 years and $25 in anticipation of 25 more successful years to come. All proceeds benefit the North Hills Community Outreach Endowment to continue helping neighbors in need for years to come. Awards also will be presented and nominations are now being accepted through March 2. Nominees should reflect one or more of NHCO's core values - Faith, Compassion, Empowerment and Stewardship. Click here for a nomination form or contact Amanda at 412-487-6316 opt. 1, ext. 3112 or asfhartle@nhco.org for more information on our 25th Anniversary celebration.

Cars Needed - Waiting List Growing Since formally merging with Community Auto 18 months ago, we have definitely seen the benefits of combining our efforts. Car donations have increased (91 cars from July through December 2010), and the number of vehicles being sold to low-income families has also grown (more than one per week). We now have well over 50 people on the waiting list to purchase a vehicle. If you have an unwanted vehicle, we need it! Donate it to us and you'll get the maximum tax deduction possible (on top of the knowledge that you are directly helping a person in need get to work and provide for his or her family). Cars are sold below market value with a number of great perks such as a one-year AAA membership, a 6-month warranty, a full tank of gas and car seats for all children who need them. Call 724-443-8300 or visit the Community Auto page for donation information.
