PROGRAM INFORMATION
Transportation can be a major hurdle for families in hardship
and poverty. Without reliable and affordable transportation, it can be
difficult, if not impossible, to acquire and maintain employment.
NHCO's Community Auto program makes
vehicle ownership affordable to low-income individuals and families
experiencing economic hardship so they have a reliable
means of transportation for getting to work and to meet other family
transportation needs.
What makes us special? Many local agencies accept
donated vehicles. However, NHCO puts those vehicles back
into the hands of local families who need them. Purchasers receive
their cars with a valid PA inspection sticker, a one-year AAA membership, a full tank of gas, and a 6-month warranty. Families will
receive a free, new car seat for each child who needs
one (thanks to Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield for awarding us a $5,000 grant for this purpose). NHCO stands behind every car sold.
WORDS OF THANKS
"Thank you very much, that you have provided me with a very good car. I thank you, Addie (who did paper work with me) and all the staff for helping me like poor people with car. And my car is very very good. I, my mother, and wife all are happy and have said thank you to you and all. I will be very much happy if I can be of any help to you or your office anytime." - Car buyer pictured at right, who lived in a refugee camp for 18 years before moving to the United States with his wife and mother
"Community Auto really helped me when I was trying to purchase a car to go back and forth to work. None of the dealers were willing to hold a vehicle for me, except Community Auto. Thanks!"
"I'm very thankful to the person who donated their car and to Community Auto for all they have done to help me have transportation again. It will help my job search and my ability to do basic errands. Also, it will allow my son to get to and from school. I am very grateful."
"Do you know why my husband got a job? It was because I got the car and can take him to work and back."
"My heartfelt thank you goes out to you. I cannot begin to tell you how critical having an SUV or minivan is to my livelihood. Your program was a lifesaver! I can continue to grow my little business without the extreme burden of trying to find a replacement truck. You made a huge impact on my 2010!"

DONATE A CAR - INFORMATION FOR DONORS
Our mission is to get cars into the hands of low-income people who need them for work. All appropriate cars will be sold to qualifying individuals in need. In these cases, you may deduct the fair market value of the vehicle (what it would sell for on the open market).
We will do our best to match your donation with a family who needs a car; however, some cars are not suitable for a low-income family to maintain and will be sold at auction. Other cars cannot be repaired and will be scrapped. In these instances, the amount you can deduct varies, and you should discuss your donation with your tax advisor or download the IRS’s publication, A Donor’s Guide to Vehicle Donations.
Want to donate your car? Donors may drop off
the car by appointment or request a pick-up. When calling to inquire
about donating a car, please be prepared to provide the year, make
and model, as well as the approximate mileage and general condition. Contact Jenn Carr at 724-443-8300 or fill out the form below.

- Financial donations are urgently needed to help us get the vehicles
road-ready quickly and efficiently. Please mail checks to North Hills Community Outreach, 1975 Ferguson Road, Allison Park, PA 15101, and mark "Community Auto" on the memo line.
