NEW LOCATION
Community Auto has moved from its Richland location. The organization’s new facility is located at 11490 Perry Highway in Wexford, next to Hubcap City.

The new location with proximity to auto-related businesses offers greater opportunities for efficient service and expanded programming, which will result in more low-income families having access to affordable and reliable transportation. Ed Holdcroft, owner of Hubcap City, is donating his expertise to help get donated cars roadworthy quickly.

PROGRAM INFORMATION
Transportation can be a major hurdle for families in hardship and poverty. Without reliable and safe transportation, it can be difficult, if not impossible, to acquire and maintain employment.

NHCO is partnering with Community Auto to make vehicle ownership affordable to low-income individuals and families experiencing economic hardship so they have a safe and reliable means of transportation for getting to work and to meet other family transportation needs. NHCO performs "back office" support in finances, human resources, volunteer management, communciations and fundraising so that Community Auto can focus its efforts on helping those in need.

What makes us special? Many local agencies accept donated vehicles. However, Community Auto puts those vehicles back into the hands of local families who need them. Purchasers receive their cars with a valid PA inspection sticker, a one-year AAA membership and a full tank of gas! Most cars come with a 3-month/3,500 mile warranty. Plus, thanks to a partnership with TECHS, families will receive a free, new car seat for each child (up to age 8) who needs one.

Photos of local families and individuals with their new cars can be seen here.

INFORMATION FOR DONORS

Our mission is to get cars into the hands of low-income people who need them for work and critical family matters. All appropriate cars will be sold at well below fair market value to qualifying individuals in need. In these cases, you may deduct the fair market value of the vehicle (what it would sell for on the open market, i.e., Kelley Blue Book value).

We will do our best to match your donation with a family who needs a car; however, some cars are not suitable for a low-income family to maintain and will be sold at auction. Other cars cannot be repaired and will be scrapped.

In these instances, the amount you can deduct varies, and you should discuss your donation with your tax advisor or download the IRS’s publication, A Donor’s Guide to Vehicle Donations.

Want to donate your vehicle? Donors may drop off the car by appointment or request a pick-up. When calling to inquire about donating a car, please be prepared to provide the year, make and model, as well as the approximate mileage and general condition. Contact Jenn Carr at 724-443-8300 or fill out the form below.
