Needs Assessment Survey to Educators

Twenty-one local educators responded to our needs assessment survey that we mailed to 126 individuals in May 2005. A big thanks to them for responding during a very busy time of the year!

• The respondents felt that the top critical needs in our community are:
  1. Drug awareness and prevention
  2. Single parent households
  3. Mental health
  4. Alcohol awareness and prevention
  5. Stepfamily issues
     
• The majority of respondents felt that there are "some" community resources available to address critical needs. Only three felt that there are "many" resources available, and nobody felt that there are "little to no resources."
• When asked of their awareness of North Hills Community Outreach, ten respondents were "very" aware of NHCO's services. Nine were aware of a few services, and two had heard of NHCO.
• Some additional comments by educators concerning what services are needed:
• parenting classes, classes to help single moms (several people made this suggestion)
• more counseling options
• mental health services for children
• places for teens to hang out
• after-school care/tutoring
