Food Stamps / Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)

Produce to People
Produce to People distributes produce and other grocery items to families in need monthly in Sto-rox, Braddock, Homewood, McKeesport, North Side, Duquesne and the South Side. All distributions start around 10 am and are finished before noon. Call the P2P hotline at (412) 460-3663 ext. 727 for up-to-date information.
Angel Food Ministries
Angel Food Ministries provides families with approximately $65 worth of nutritious food for $30. Angel Food Ministries does not use out-of-date food or inferior products. Anyone can purchase food (no income restrictions), and food stamps may be used for purchase.
Kosher Food
The Squirrel Hill Food Pantry offers assistance to Jewish families and individuals who keep Kosher and are in need of food. 412-421-2708
HELP FOR SENIORS
Commodity Senior Food Program
If you are over 60 years of age and meet certain income guidelines, you could receive free food from this federally funded program. Interested seniors should call the Food Bank at 412-460-3663, ext. 308, and leave your name and a phone number.
Home Delivered Meals
Persons 60 years of age and older, and those who are unable to prepare meals or shop for themselves can receive home delivery of meals. Call the County’s SeniorLine at 412-350-5460.
HELP FOR WOMEN & CHILDREN
Out-of-School Food Programs
These programs provide meals to children during out-of-school hours, including before and after school, evenings, weekends and summers.
- Child and Adult Care Feeding Program (CACFP): 412-350-2759
One Smithfield Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15222
Provides meals to children (18 and under) attending afterschool programs or living in the vicinity of the site.
- Rainbow Kitchen Community Services: 412-464-1892
Kid’s Café, 135 East Ninth Avenue, Homestead, PA 15120
Serves children in afterschool programs from families with incomes at or below 125 percent of the federal poverty guidelines.
- SummerFood Service Program: 1-800-851-3838
Serves children (18 and under) at one of more than 100 sites throughout Allegheny County during summer months.
Women, Infants and Children (WIC): 412-350-5801
The WIC Program is a health and supplemental nutrition program for pregnant women, breastfeeding women up to 12 months postpartum, non-breastfeeding women up to 6 months post-partum, and infants and children up to 5 years of age who have a medical/nutritional risk. WIC is provided by the Allegheny County Health Department. Income guidelines apply.
