Our Organic Community Garden in Bellevue

A plot of land at 119 Davis Avenue in Bellevue was donated to North Hills Community Outreach. The donor, Terrie Amelio, requested that the property be used for an organic community garden and that the produce be given to families in need through NHCO's two food pantries. Volunteer Wade Cupcheck cleared the land for his Eagle Scout project; since that time, more than 100 volunteers have given hundreds of hours of their time and service to help this garden grow. To volunteer, donate or learn more, please contact our garden coordinator, Rosie Wise, at 412-307-0069. You can also peruse our garden wish list and visit our News Links page for several articles published on the garden. Scroll down for photos, a link to our garden blog and a schedule of volunteer needs! And if all that isn't enough, you can follow the garden on Twitter!

2012 Seed Drive Underway
Donations of organic, seed packets are being collected for our Rosalinda Sauro Sirianni Garden in Bellevue. Fruit, vegetable, greens, herb and flower seeds as well as monetary donations are welcome. All produce grown at our garden supports North Hills Community Outreach's two food pantries. Last year, our pantries fed 1,395 families in need. Please print our flier and post it for all to see. Donations can be dropped off at any NHCO office.

Ribbon Cutting and Blessing

The ribbon cutters represented donors, volunteers and other supporters of the garden. Garden donor Terrie Amelio shares stories about her mom.

Garden coordinator Rosie Wise with youth leadership coordinators Rev. Catherine Purves of Bellevue UPC gave a lovely blessing.

Wade Cupcheck (center) cleared the land for an Eagle Scout project. A great turnout for the ceremony!
