NHCO has two exciting AmeriCorps*VISTA
positions available beginning in August 2008. AmeriCorps is a network
of local, state, and national service programs that connects more
than 70,000 Americans each year in intensive service to meet our
country’s critical needs in education, public safety, health,
and the environment.

Position: AmeriCorps*VISTA Faith in Action Coordinator
(F/T)
Duties include:
- Work with local congregations and other community organizations
to develop a corps of well-trained and coordinated volunteers
to serve the elderly and adults with physical disabilities
- Partner with congregations and other organizations to identify
potential individuals to be served
- Assist with the daily operation of NHCO’s Free Rides
for Seniors shuttle bus program
- Schedule speaking engagements to promote programs
- Research and participate in community events and activities
for recruitment and awareness
- Arrange and implement volunteer trainings
- Track and document requests for services
- Identify unmet community needs
Position: AmeriCorps*VISTA Volunteer Coordinator (F/T)
Duties include:
- Recruit, interview and place new volunteers in quality volunteer
positions
- Identify and create new volunteer opportunities within the
organization to meet the needs of a dynamic volunteer pool
- Grow volunteer-based fundraisers to engage more volunteers
and increase funding
- Identify leadership opportunities and recruit volunteers for
these positions
