Community Needs Alert

Changing federal eligibility rules for SNAP benefits in early 2026 will make it more difficult for thousands of our neighbors to keep food on their tables. These changes will impact working families, older adults and many other vulnerable people in our community.

Impact on Our Neighbors

These changes are expected to impact more than 13,000 residents in Allegheny County, including many individuals and families served by NHCO.  These long-term disruptions will not only make it harder for many of our neighbors to put food on their tables, but also to meet their overall basic needs.

NHCO’s Response

NHCO will continue to provide services with compassion and dignity, ensuring that our local residents have access to the help they need.  With community support, we will continue to meet these rising needs.
