Community Needs Alert
As of October 16, the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services announced that SNAP benefits will not be issued due to the ongoing federal government shutdown. This decision affects more than 2 million Pennsylvanians (162,000 residing in Allegheny County) including many North Hills Community Outreach clients who depend on these benefits to meet their most basic needs.
Impact on Our Neighbors
Without this critical support, many families will face immediate food insecurity and financial strain. We anticipate an increase in need for food, emergency assistance, and other services in the coming weeks.
NHCO’s Response
NHCO will continue to provide services with compassion and dignity, ensuring that our neighbors are not left without help during this uncertain time. NHCO has a long history of meeting the rising needs of our neighbors, with the help of our community.
